We strive to make your hospital stay as comfortable as possible. Here are some general information pertaining to your hospital stay:

  • Waiting Areas

    Public waiting areas are located at the lift lobby of all floors

  • Meals

    Meals are complimentary for in-patients only. Food are supplied according to patient’s age and condition. Mealtimes are:

    • Breakfast : 8.00am – 9.00am
    • Lunch : 12.00pm – 1.00pm
    • Afternoon tea : 3.00pm – 3.30pm
    • Dinner : 6.00pm – 7.00pm
    • Night tea : 8.00pm – 8.30pm

    Please use your own cutleries for non-halal food. A hot water flask is provided and hair dryer is available upon request.

  • Telephone

    All patients’ rooms are equipped with a telephone to receive incoming calls. All outgoing calls are chargeable. (Local calls: press “9” followed by the required numbers. Outstation calls: press “0” to go through our operators.) Alternatively, there are public phones located at the lift lobby on all floors.

  • Call-bell

    Call-bell services in the ward are not chargeable. Please call for assistance.

  • Electrical

    Own electrical items are strictly not allowed in the hospital.

  • Valuables

    In the interest of safety, we request that you do not bring any valuables into the hospital. Sunway Medical Centre does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal properties.

  • Smoking

    Smoking is prohibited in the hospital compound.

The following information is divided into three categories to accommodate the different types of patients, namely:

Know your rights and responsibilities when it comes to managing your health.

Patient Rights
  • Every patient has the right to access competent healthcare and treatment regardless of age, sex, ethnic origin, religion, political affiliation, economic status and social class.
  • Before commencement of treatment, a patient has the right to a clear explanation of the proposed treatment including the planned procedure/intervention and common complications that may arise
  • Translation services will be provided where possible
  • The hospital will ensure the safety and security of the patients
  • A patient has the right to know the investigations conducted and the results of these investigations
  • A patient has the right to a second opinion at any time and a medical report when requested, either by the patient or a third person on the patient’s written permission and consent. Fees will be charged for the report
  • A patient has the right to know the various options available for the same treatment
  • Every patient has the right to enquire for information and provide feedback to the Head of Department concerned or the Customer Service Department
Patient Responsibilities
  • The patient/guardian with legal responsibilities shall provide accurate and complete information about his/her health to the attending doctor to the best of their ability
  • The patient/guardian with legal responsibilities shall inform the private healthcare facility of his/her ability to pay for the services to be rendered
  • The patient has the responsibility to follow doctor’s advice and treatment, keep appointments and inform the doctor or the hospital if he/she is unable to do so
  • While in the clinic or hospital, the patient must conduct himself/herself so as not to interfere with the well-being or rights of other patients or healthcare professionals
  • The patient shall inform the healthcare provider if he/she is a registered organ donor

Breastfeeding Support Group

SunMed fully supports new mothers in their efforts to breastfeed. We have a 24-hour helpline for mothers to enquire on any breastfeeding matters.

A monthly sharing session is also held for parents, be it expecting or not, to share on all issues pertaining to breastfeeding.

Dialysis Support Group

If you are having difficulty coping with dialysis treatment or if you are a caregiver to a dialysis patient, you are welcome to join our Dialysis Support Group.

      Parking Autopay Machines are available on Ground Floor, 1st & 2nd Floor.

    • Playrooms

      Playrooms are available at Eye Centre (1st Floor), Outpatient Department (2nd Floor) and Ward 5B (5th Floor).

    • Washrooms

      Washrooms are available on all floors of the hospital.

    • Multi-storey Carpark

      There are a total of 700 parking bays over six floors of carpark. There are two dedicated parking bays for the handicapped on each floor. There are also two rows of parking bays reserved on 2nd Floor for pregnant ladies and parent(s) with children below 12.

    • Nursing Room / Diaper Changing Facility

      Nursing rooms are available on 2nd Floor (Outpatient department and near Ward 2B/Nursery). Diaper changing facility is on 2nd Floor Outpatient department.

    • Prayer Rooms

      The Surau is located on Lower Ground Floor (next to Laboratory) and on 4th Floor, Tower B (Swan Convention Centre).

    • Public Telephones

      Public telephones are available on all floors of the hospital.
