Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) has yet again clinched the prestigious Hospital of the Year (Malaysia) award at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2024.

SMC won the award for the third consecutive year for its unwavering dedication to innovation, setting new standards in healthcare, and making significant contributions to communities.

SMC also won Health Promotion Initiative of the Year for the first time for its holistic 360-degree marketing approach in promoting healthcare in Malaysia.

Healthcare Asia Awards is an awards programme focused on acknowledging exceptional hospitals across Asia that redefine the standards of excellence in the healthcare industry.

SMC chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken paid tribute to the collective contribution of the team for the recognition.

“Our teams’ passion for patient care has always driven us to strive for excellence, and this award further validates their unwavering dedication.

“Recognised from such a distinguished agency for the third consecutive year symbolises not only success, but also reflects our enduring promise to provide exceptional healthcare.

“Winning this award is not just a milestone, but a stepping stone, propelling us to continue climbing to greater heights to provide the best healthcare services to the people. It further highlights how special the year 2024 is, especially for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year,” he said.

The announcement comes on the back of SMC's recent honours including being named in the top 250 hospitals globally in Newsweek World's Best Hospitals 2024 rankings – a first time any Malaysian hospital has made it into the list.

The hospital is also accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH).

Established in 1999, SMC is the largest private quaternary hospital in Malaysia with 724 licensed beds and more than 60 specialties.

SMC also boasts 28 Centres of Excellence and a diverse multidisciplinary team supported by over 3,500 dedicated healthcare and hospitality professionals to provide personalised treatment with a holistic care approach.
