SMC Ranked Top For Paediatrics Services In Malaysia, 28th Within Asia Pacific

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 (Bernama) -- Sunway Medical Centre (SMC), Sunway City is ranked the top for paediatrics services in Malaysia, according to the Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific Newsweek 2023 rankings.
SMC in a statement today mentioned the hospital is ranked 28th for paediatrics within Asia Pacific, and is also ranked within the top 75 hospitals in Neurology, Cardiology and Oncology.
President of Sunway Healthcare Group Datuk Lau Beng Long in the statement said the ranking is an assurance that the hospital is going towards the right direction, especially with regards to their paediatric services.
“We have just opened Tower D and Tower E that houses our Children and Women’s centres of excellence, and also the country’s first dedicated Children’s Emergency among private hospitals. This one-stop centre that caters to the healthcare needs of infants, children and adolescents is supported by nearly 40 paediatricians in 22 paediatric subspecialties” he said.
According to the statement, SMC is the biggest private quaternary hospital to date in the country, with 724 licensed beds.
“Newsweek and Statista invited more than 8,000 medical experts – including doctors, hospital managers and other health care professionals (e.g. nurses) – to participate in online surveys that allowed them to recommend and assess various hospitals within their respective specializations,” the statement said.
The Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2023 ranking identifies and honours the very best hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region that specialise in Cardiology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Paediatrics and the award recognizes the best hospitals across nine countries and regions, namely Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
