Crowned as the “Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year in Asia-Pacific” at the 2018 APAC Healthcare & Medical Tourism Awards, Sunway Medical Centre (SunMed) is a regional tertiary care hospital which is strategically located in the thriving township of Sunway City, a stone’s throw away from Sunway Lagoon, Sunway Hotel, Sunway shopping mall, Sunway University and Monash University, providing holistic caring experience for the patients.

Named as “International Hospital of the Year” by IMTJ consecutively in 2016 and 2017, SunMed serves close to half a million patients annually and more than 50,000 international patient visits from more than 135 countries.

Established in November 1999, Sunway Medical Centre (SunMed) is the first hospital in Southeast Asia to receive accreditation from Australian Council on Healthcare standards (ACHS). With more than 25 centres of excellence, 616 beds (with total capacity of 650 beds), more than 200 specialists, SunMed provides comprehensive range of medical and surgical solutions. As the regional site partner of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, Sunway Clinical Research Centre is established recently to focus on prevention and early diagnoses and improved treatments of a range of diseases, extending its clinical research to Southeast Asia’s 620 million populations.

Being awarded “Oncology Service Provider of the Year in Asia-Pacific” and also “Neurology Service Provider of the year in Asia-Pacific” at the 2018 APAC Healthcare & Medical Tourism Awards, SunMed has been at the forefront in adopting the latest technology to strive towards clinical excellence. SunMed is also at the forefront in adopting latest technology such as Gamma Knife ICON, Varian TrueBeamStx, da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system, Philips Azurion, Siemens xSPECT-CT, intra operative radiation therapy (IORT), to provide best clinical care to its patients.

SunMed has also recently been accredited as an ESMO (Europeans Society for Medical Oncology) Designated Centre of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care for the period of 2019-2021. To take care of the needs of international patients, SunMed has a dedicated one-stop International Patient Centre (IPC) which provide assistance ranging from patient appointment, cost estimate, interpreters and accommodation arrangement to transport logistics and etc. SunMed IPC team is equipped by inhouse Indonesian, Japanese, Arabic, Mandarin interpreters and with other interpreters on call.

Sunway Medical Centre is also affiliated with University of Cambridge, Royal Papworth Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia to further meet the demands of medical education, training and research.
